After seeing some of the insanely creative costumes that you folks have come up with over the years, I decided to pick the most original to receive the Diamine orange and black ink set.
And so, the ink set goes to...
Withoutink! Congrats!!! Here's the description for his winning entry: "I was dressed as a UPS driver that was in a wreck. My girlfriend at the time was a box that had been run over. All nice and gorey, we both looked like zombies. I had 'shards of glass' sticking out of my head. She had tire marks and such all over her. We had the clipboard scanner etc =) It was spot on..."
Now THAT is awesome. Zombies and a UPS wreck in one! What I wanna know is, how the heck he even came up with that.
Withoutink, email me your mailing address, and your inks will soon be on their way!
my e-mail addy: allmyhues@gmail.com
( Finally, here are some of my favorite entries: )
Thanks to everybody who entered! Your costumes were a delight to read about.

Remember folks: Today's the last day to enter in my Diamine ink Halloween giveaway. Tell me what you're going to be for Halloween, and you could win set of Diamine Pumpkin and Diamine Onyx Black fountain pen inks (30 mL bottles).
I'll be at a friend's Halloween party tonight -- I'm going to be Bellatrix Lestrange from Harry Potter and he's going to be Lucius Malfoy -- so I hope you all have a spooky night filled with gluttonous sugary decadence, creative costumes, and possibly alcohol (*wink*).
Have a fantastic Halloween, everyone!

Duh me, I didn't even realize till today: Jackie Flaherty's blog Letters & Journals is having an awesome contest in which you get to help shape how the magazine-in-the-making turns out! Give suggestions, and win prizes -- how neat is that?
Check it out here.
There will be 6 winners chosen, and the contest runs till midnight on Sunday, November 1st (CST).
Good luck!

I just learnt about this today via The Fountain Pen Network (FPN) -- Diamine has released a handful of new fountain pen colors! They are:
Classic Red Delamere Green Hope Pink <--- Proceeds from the sale of this ink will be given to Cancer Research Lavender Majestic Purple Marine Rustic Brown WES Kensington Blue
Take a gander here.
Wow, 8 inks! Now that is impressive. I would love to try them out. Hopefully I shall get a chance to, in the coming weeks...
REMINDER: If you're interested in acquiring Diamine Onyx Black and Pumpkin fountain pen inks, enter the contest! It might be your lucky day :-)

Um...wow. 4 weeks it's been? Really?
Man. I am sorry about that, guys, really I am. I would have updated sooner, except, well...I've been a bit...distracted lately. In a nutshell: Breakups are not fun.
As an apology for my sudden lack of posts, however, I have for you all.....a Halloween giveaway!
What are the two main colors for Halloween? Black and orange! And that's the ink set up for grabs.
I have two 30-ml plastic bottles of Diamine ink to give away: Diamine Pumpkin and Diamine Onyx Black. Both were reviewed earlier this year, and they will be given away as a set.
How to win? Simple. Comment below and tell me what you're going to be for Halloween/the best Halloween costume you ever wore. Winner will be picked at random. The contest will end at 12 midnight on Halloween.
Good luck!!!

YAAAAAAY, renovations done! Hope y'all like. I certainly do :D
Having the links right here on the blogspace is so much more nifty than having to go to my profile, don't you think?
Take note that my email has changed as well. It's now AllMyHues@gmail.com
Signing out for tonight, T

Ok, friends, so I've narrowed it down. Here are the possible choices for renaming this blog:
+ Artistic Inklinations + Artistik Inklinations + All My Hues + (suggest something cool)
Prepare for a massive overhaul, readers: New design, new links, new giveaways, new reviews, new userpics....
So, what's your title of choice? :-)

I am heavily considering changing the name of my blog. Damaged Goods was penned when I was at a far more cynical, downwards-sloping point in my life, and it was pure chance that the name turned out to be irony (I review stuff, and the blog is called damaged goods...get it?).
I use this blog for:
+ Reviewing art supplies (paper, colored pencils, watercolors, markers, etc) + Reviewing writing supplies (paper, pencils, notebooks, pens, etc) + Posting fun, artsy snail mail + Posting my own artwork
Some ideas I have are All My Hues(my LJ username...original, I know), and Something Wicked. THAT one is a product of my personal interests: gothiness, green witchery, all that.
Hmm. Comments? Ideas? To change or not to change?
What say you, loyal readers? Someone out there has GOT to be more creative than me :]P

I'm going to hop back into bed in a bit, but before I do, I have to share with you all a wonderful new site I've found through Patty's blog Just Letter Rip. It's called We Love Snail Mail, and I'll let the intro on the main page explain itself:
"We Love Snail Mail is a group of people from all over who enjoy sending and receiving snail mail. Crafters who enjoy stamping their own cards but have nowhere to send them, people who enjoy gift giving, folks who just need an outlet and would just like to meet people from different backgrounds and different states, and those people who want to just brighten someone's day with a little package to an appreciative recipient who you can't wait to receive their thank you or little package in the mail in return.... They're all here.
If any of those descriptions sounds like you, or if it doesn't and you still think this sounds fun, please join our members!"
That does indeed sound like me, to a tee. I love arts and crafts, I love snail mail, and I adore combining the two. I've already signed up -- Melissa makes some damn wicked envelopes, and I'd love to find one of them in my mailbox! Plus, the idea of a network of crafty snail mailers is too amazingly sweet to pass up.
What are y'all waiting for? Come one, come all, and join We Love Snail Mail!
UPDATE: Fever broke! Peppermint tea for the win! :-D

Hello, hello! I am back, very tanned (even more so than from working at the beach....color me quite astonished)...and, inexplicably, very unwell. Sore throat, achy body parts, all that fun stuff! I'm guessing it's from the Caribbean wiping me out (we did a lot of physically tiring stuff), then being exposed to a plethora of pathogens at the airport. Plus I got like 1 hour of sleep the night before we left due to some obnoxious kids running up and down the corridors of the ship at top speed while screeching at top decibels, so I'm sure that didn't help.
BUT.
Stamps from the Grand Cayman! Pretty postcards! Photos of me holding a baby alligator, baby sea turtle, not-so-baby stingray, and other animals! RUM!!
Plenty of photos and scans forthcoming ^______^
But now: Chamomile tea, and rest. And, ok, some blog-checking.

Here's the latest and final of this talented correspondent's letters.
( She's really outdone herself...click to view )
Seeing as how I'll be in the Caribbean till August 1st, don't expect any new postings till then. This recent bonanza of pretty stationary art postings was me attempting to make up for that :^) I'm tentatively considering having a Snail Mail Appreciation Week when I return. It'll include such goodies as a plethora of pretty handmade envelopes, sealing wax review, quirky Japanese stationary, and some wonderful unexpected surprises that showed up in my mailbox.
Till then, take care, all!

Hey, DG readers: Heads up! James over at Everyday Correspondence is having a contest where he'll be giving away free vintage letterheads. If you're a fan of snail mailing, check it out! Even if you're not, take a look at his blog, and maybe you'll become a fan of snail mailing (if I haven't yet converted you ;^) )
Here's the link/URL to the contest post (in case the above link didn't work): http://www.everydaycorrespondence.com/2009/07/vintage-letterhead-giveaway-contest.html
That being said, I hope I win. Hehehe.

For those of you who haven't checked my User Info (link located on top, above the title Damaged Goods), you might be interested in doing so; I've finished updating my Blog Archive of similar blogs which, like mine, deal with art, pens, paper, and other such paraphernalia. There are quite a few links there, so have fun surfing :) Again, if you want to swap links with me, shoot me an email at damaged.goods.lj@gmail.com or comment to this entry. Or, if you stumble across a blog/site that you think would be a good addition to the Blog Archive, let me know :-)
Also, to clear something up: I occasionally put photo-heavy blog posts behind "lj cuts". This way, slower computers won't take forever to load the images on my site. Clicking on the lj cut links won't transport you to another site; it'll simply "open up" the info behind the cut.

Apologies for the complete lack of postings lately. Finals week at college recently ended, followed by a full-day environmental meeting, followed by graduation preparation, followed by work....
You get the picture :)
I'll be back up and posting shortly. Stay tuned!
