The Sakura Micron Brush Pen
I really get the feeling that Sakura designed this one as a sort of "novelty pen" for their line of waterproof black-ink art markers, seeing as how it's (currently) the only brush pen in the entire line of Micron.

The paper is sugarcane bagasse paper from Staples, which I'll be reviewing soon.
Like its cousins, the Sakura Brush pen is lightweight and designed to post.

The "brush" itself is made of felt, and lays down the same dark, waterproof ink you've come to expect from the Micron line. Here's a close up:

I feel like I don't have enough experience to speak about brush pens, much less review them, seeing as how this is the only one I've ever used; my only other vehicles to ink mediums are the Micron markers and dip pens (cheap ones too, which i should probably replace...). I purchased it so it would be easier for me to color in large areas of black in ink drawings. Still, with a skilled hand you could probably get some excellent line variation. This is the best I could do:

I think that this pen can be a great intro to brushwork, if you're a beginner. Or, like me, you can simply use it as a convenient way to color in large areas :) It's certainly a convenient way to dabble in brushwork before you go all out and buy tons of material you don't know if you'll ever use, yes?
Like its cousins, the Sakura Brush pen can (hopefully) be found where the other Sakura Micron pens are sold. Again, if you aren't fortunate enough to have an art store near you, you can always hit up the following online retailers:
www.jetpens.com stocks, and spending $25 or more earns you free shipping.
www.dickblick.com also has them, for slightly cheaper prices (and they discount if you buy in bulk, though I think this is more for art teachers). I'm not sure about shipping costs, though, as I've never purchased from them.

Creative snail mailing
Lami Lokta paper review (this one will be fun)
I've gotten a slew of stuff to review in the mail: A notebook and art materials from the environmentally-conscious O'bon, and several goodies from Exaclair Inc, the parent company of several world-famous brands including Clairefontaine, Rhodia, and J. Herbin inks. I also purchased a Piccadilly from Borders which I've been meaning to review. Oh, and remember the Diamine inks I mentioned before? ....Yeah, they're here too :-) So, plenty to look forward to, folks!!
Till next time...

Good things in small packages
Thanks for reminding me of the Micron Brush Pen. Decent line variation and small size make this a good on-the-go choice for Asian calligraphy as well as expressive line work. Not sure where mine got off to but it's time to call it out for a little fun at the local coffee house. :)
